art history/ final project
For this project you will choose from the following 9 options (also in your binder). Follow the directions for the activity that you choose. When you are done, you will present your work to the class, so make sure you send me any file that will need to be projected onto the board.
Verbal/ Linguistic (Word Smart):
Choose an Artist. Write a presentation on the life of this artist. Present your presentation to the class.
You Will Need:
1. To choose and artist
2. Find 2 or more images of your artist and their artwork
3. Create a Google Slides presentation with at least 10 slides about the life of your
artist.
Logical/ Mathematical (Math Smart):
Research the Op Art Period. Create an Optical Illusion on paper. Present the Op Art Period and your project to the class.
You Will Need:
1. Research the Op Art Period.
2. Research how to create a piece of Op Art and and create it.
3. Create a Google Slides presentation explaining with at least 10 slides on the Op Art Period, some
major artists during that time, and how you created your Op Art piece.
Intrapersonal (Self Smart):
Choose your favorite artist or art period. Write a self reflection paper supporting why the artist or art period is your favorite. Present this and an image from the art period or artist to the class.
Option: Compare and Contrast two of your favorite artists or art periods.
You Will Need:
1. Choose your favorite artist or art period.
2. Research that artist or art period and gather some facts to support your paper on why that artist or
art period is your favorite. You may also support your opinions with images. You may, if you wish,
instead compare and contrast two artists or art periods.
3. Create a Google Slides presentation about your paper (this is where you'll need images of the
artworks or artists).
Interpersonal (People Smart):
With one partner, choose an artist or art period that you both like. Create a collaborative work of art in the style of the artist or art period you both choose. Present your collaborative work of art to the class.
You Will Need:
1. Choose a partner that has good attendance and is reliable. Your partner can affect your grade.
2. You both need to agree on an artist or art period. Together, create a work of art in the style of that
artist or art period.
3. Create a Google Slides Presentation explaining why you chose the artist or art period, how your
artwork is in the style of that artist or art period, and some key characteristics of that specific artist or
art period. Your presentation needs to be at least 10 slides.
Flipchart Presentation (Computer Smart):
Create an art history flipchart using Google Docs. Choose an artist, your favorite work of art they created, and write two paragraphs describing the art and artist. Present your Flipchart to the class.
You Will Need:
1. Google Docs.
2. Research what a flipchart is if you don't already know.
3. Use Google Docs to create a flipchart about an arist. Add images. Add your paragraphs.
4. Send your Flipchart file to me to print so that you can present it to the class.
Musical/ Rhythmic (Music Smart):
Write a song, chant, or rap about an artist or art period. Present the song, chant, or rap to the class.
You Will Need:
1. Research your favorite artist or art period to get inspiration for your song, chant, or rap.
2. A camera (cell phone camera is fine), to record your song, chant, or rap.
3. Use Google Slides to create a presentation as your background, with images of the artist/ artwork.
Visual/ Spatial (Art & Science Smart):
Recreate a piece of art in the style of an artist or art period. Present your art to the class and explain how your art represents the artist or art period.
You Will Need:
1. Research your favorite artist/ art period, and the style of their work.
2. Find an image of that artist's work that you would like to recreate.
3. Create your work of art.
4. Create a Google Slides presentation that is at least 5 slides long, describing your artist's/ art period's
work, and how you recreated that style. Make sure you include images of your work and the artist/ art
period's work.
Bodily/ Kinesthetic (Body Smart):
Research an artist or art period. In partners or small groups, write a play about the artist or art period. Record your play before or after school or present live to the class.
You Will Need:
1. Find a partner or group to work in. Make sure you pick dependable group members, as their
attendance and participation will affect your grade.
2. Agree on an artist/ art period that your group wants to recreate as a play.
3. A camera (cell phone camera is fine), to record your play. Send me the video so we can present it to
the class.
Naturalist (Nature Smart):
Choose an artist whose art represents your favorite part of nature. Create a piece of art in the style of this artist. Present your art to the class and describe why you choose this artist.
You Will Need:
1. Choose an artist whose art represents your favorite part of nature. Research their art.
2. Use your research to inspire your own work, created in the style of the artist you chose.
3. Create a Google Slides presentation that is at least 5 slides long that describes hour your artist's
artwork represents your favorite part of nature. Include images of the work of art you create.
